Quad-Core Performance Been Taken By Quad-FX

Most of the time that we have been talking about dual-core computing hit the big time in the last two years or three years perhaps, not quite sure of it. The matter of fact is the performance benefits of having two CPU cores in a single PC have been consistently proven in revealing faster media processing times and better responsiveness. But now, I get a chance to know the latest technology coming in and it’s time for us to move on from dual-core, steps up to deliver you Quad-core PC computing. I ensure you that Intel really does a high-end offering being built-in to plenty of gaming, professional and enthusiast PC or any machine that needed high performance tasks. The market still has not released any news of Core 2 Extreme QX6800 but you may find QX6700 and QX6600 flooding out in the market.

The good news is if you trying to find the best quad-core CPU for your new high-end system and planning for the next upgrade, AMD has entered the race with Quad FX which is worth considering.

Performance bottlenecks

  • Just my simple 2 cents here, while a quad-core CPU definitely hit on for the best and the highest performance in multithreaded application and multitasking, but at the same time it will stress your hard drive. Because considering installing multiple drives like most people do to house your operating system and applications, data and temporary work area, separately. 320GB hard drives should be worked fine though and I think the price is getting lower and lower.
  • Another is memory requirement consideration. Maybe 1GB may work fine for a 32-bit Windows XP or Vista-based machine but anything less may lead to a slow-down, especially for those large-workload applications. In my case, tabs that I open in my Firefox often eat up at least 200MB~300MB and PhotoShop takes at least 80MB in basic. (exclude the work on the tabs in Firefox and PhotoShop). Well, I would say 2GB and above would probably look plenty for the machine and that helps to optimize quad-core CPU pretty well.
