Google’s New Favicon

I’m wondering that maybe some of you have been noticed Google’s new favicon on your tab bar. There is no more green-blue-red edge for the Big G, instead, they are going to be smaller blue-g? Anyway, this is one of the smaller change in Google and it does feel comfortable to me more than “advertise G” before.

Google Everywhere: Is Google View a Revolution Map or Threat to Our Privacy

Not content with just photographing the tops of our houses via satellite, Google now wants to snap our front doors. The Street View service, currently being trialled in a selection of major US cities, lets people ‘walk’ down a road, looking at thousands of photographs seamlessly stitched together to represent the real thing.

“We have trucks that are driving around city streets with cameras on top taking these images… it’s essentially taking 360 degrees pictures every so often, and there’s some scanning equipment on the thing too, to figure out exactly, down to the inch, where the truck is and where the camera is pointing,” says Lars Rasmussen, Google’s Senior Engineer on Google Maps.

Google Earth 4D: My Best Ever Map Tour

Google earth gives me a better map with a better idea than a large piece of paper map with some ‘dead’ road location. Compare to this, google earth leads me the real world to an ‘unknown’ place on a trip. Typing in any name from/to the location, hover the mouse to the right top to zoom into the real angle and presents me really good idea on how exactly the place look likes. After having fun with any angle over the world from Australia -> New Zealand -> Europe -> USA -> Asia and back to my home, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. But heck, guess what! I can’t locate the building of my own home in Kuala Lumpur! It should be somewhere near KLCC! The building name “Menara City One” opposites Wilayah Complex and behind SOGO just disappeared on the map! I thought Google earth is a updated map? Or was there an earthquake in Malaysia??? Can you please find for me? LOL.

Screenshot shows from a far view at Wrest Point Casino at my area, Hobart

It was really fun after all. By now, Google skipped right past the third dimension and landed directly in the fourth (time) by offering historical maps on Google Earth. Read the rest of this entry »

Gmail Doubles Up Attachment Size To Max 20MB

I always scratch my head while trying to send bigger attachment file using Gmail. Recently, I just noticed that Gmail has now doubling up the attachment size to maximum of 20MB really cures my pain with this great news. It’s never too much while talking bout Big G! By matter of fact, if Google is going to upgrade their upload bandwidth for users would be nicer to any of us. I hate to watch the “upload” graphic for couple minutes and it probably will cause my browser frozen! Maybe I’m just asking too much. Just hope that Google will getting better and better as I’m quite a big fan of it!

Google Analytics: New Version

Google Analytics is now releasing the new version of the reporting interface for each of existing user. To access this new version click the “View Reports” link next to any profile in your account by logging in at http://www.google.com/analytics.

You will still be able to access your old reporting interface for at least a month by clicking “Previous Interface” below the “View Reports” link for any profile in your account. Other than a few improvements detailed in the version notes below, your data and configuration settings remain unaffected by your choice of interface and your data continues to be tracked in the same way as it was prior to this redesign.

What is new?

- Email and export reports: Schedule or send ad-hoc personalized report emails and export reports in PDF format.

- Custom Dashboard: No more digging through reports. Put all the information you need on a custom dashboard that you can email to others.

- Trend and Over-time Graph: Compare time periods and select date ranges without losing sight of long term trends.

- Contextual help tips: Context sensitive Help and Conversion University tips are available from every report.

The new interface has everything the previous interface had and more. In addition, links within reports make it easier to navigate related information and explore your data.

How to Maximize Visibility and Response

Google Adsense Secrets (Part III)

Wise placement

I noticed that the most visible ads aren’t always the most effective. In fact, there are several way to make your ads placement in wise placement which is put them where your content is mostly interest and engage your readers by creating several ‘points of interest’ with the use of graphics, tables and other layout techniques. Once you have your reader’s attention with interest content, I’m sure they will most likely to read and click on relevant ads and that’s what Google wants! – An ‘educated’ clicks!

Go with the ‘flow’
To make a wise placement, there’s no point in putting your ads out of the place where no one ever looks. Perhaps, your visitors will follow your content, so you need to make sure your ads follow that content too. Google actually offers a pretty neat tool to help you up.

Above the fold
Google always put the top-paying ads on the top and the lowest-paying ads on the bottom. You don’t want ads and links competing against each other. So remember this, less is more which means don’t stuck all the ads or product or search bar on ‘above the fold’ and it will most likely mess around your sites and your visitors.

Using tables
This the most effective and which I also recommended most for the highest CTR – click-through rates is to make your sites blend into the page. Using tables definitely make your visitors feel comfortable and the better CTR will be.

Code for using tables
<table border=”0″ align=”ALIGNMENT”><tr><td>
Google Adsense goes here
</td></tr></table>
Replace the word ALIGNMENT with LEFT / RIGHT / MIDDLE for alignment

Ad Link Units
Ad link units let you place a box on your site that contains four or five links. If you are going to use Ad Link units campaign. You need to put them:
1. On a site with a specific field of interest
2. Above the fold with few other links.

How to tweak your ads to make them click

Google Adsense Secrets (Part II)

1. How to “play the ads”?
Or I would say “dress” the ads. The choices can be overwhelming. Many people making big mistake to let Google decide for them as default setting. Once again, people don’t visit your website for ads, they want good content. So just make the ads look like an integral part of your content. Therefore, go for text ads instead of image ads. The reason shows at free-web-money.

2. The Best performing Ad Size
You want to use the TEXT ADS and want them to look like anything but an ad. But you want them to have a particular size also.
1st Ranking – 336 x 280 – the Large Rectangle
2nd Ranking – 300 x 250 – the Medium Rectangle
Why? Because it gets the most clicks! The next thing – stay away from 468 x 60 ad block. Think by yourself, how many times have you ever seen that size of block? It seems like 468 x 60 ad block screams, “Hey, I’m an advertisement! DON’T CLICK ME!” Yup, this is the block banner format that we all come and love and …… IGNORE.

3. “Dress” the ads

You can make more than DOUBLE your double click-through’s by making the border and background color “go” which mean choose the exactly same color as your website page background. Besides, Text is a design too! But too many text styles can confuse your readers/visitors. Instead, try legitimate way to make the ads look like a part of your content.

4. Blue is the best color
To do the link exchange or the ads in a logic way, users come to your site expect their links are something more sparkling than your content, just as they expect stop/caution signs to be red and warning signs to be yellow. So they expect to see the links in blue. Keep your link in blue and you can experience an increase in click-throughs as high as 25%

How To Build Your Own Site

Google Adsense Secrets (Chapter I)

Some people might think that working under other webhost platforms is easier, faster and don’t even have to pay a cent. Yes, I admit it but here’s the fact: It’s never been easier to create a website and use it to generate REAL REVENUE. You could have earned up to more than that to cover what you’ve paid! For those who already has a site up and running, you probably can just skip this chapter.

1. Naming Your Site
First thing you need is a name. I can tell that all the best names in the dictionary have either been bought by developers or offered by spectaculars. But you still can create a good name with a hyphen like (http://adsense-affiliate.com) and can also move from .com into .net , .org , .net , etc.

Once you’ve got the name in your main, the next stop is to get a domain name and find yourself a webhost. You can purchase them at one goes. One of my favorite which I’m currently working with it – Lunarpage. Their currently basic hosting plan: $7.95-domain name (free for life), $6.95-monthly host, free set up, 350GB storage, 3500GB/mth bandwidth, cPanel, MySQL, and many to list.

2. Designing Your Site
If this is what you concern about – Lunarpage is offering incredible Web Design software FOR FREE by CoffeeCup which cost about $700 likes CoffeeCup HTML Editor, CoffeeCup Direct FTP, CoffeeCup Web Video Player, CoffeeCup Web Calendar, CoffeeCup Flash Menu Builder, CoffeeCup Flash Form Builder, CoffeeCup Flash Photo Gallery and over 15 other great Web Design tools!
