There are several reasons why I use Opera more often than Firefox. Of course, the one very point of them is browsing time. I do a simple google search on ChemstudioWEB.COM with Firefox to give me result in 0.17 seconds whereas Opera resulted in 0.03 seconds and that comes to almost 6 times faster than Firefox. Besides, 9 new features added in Opera 9 are more beneficial. Click to learn more after jump.
What’s new in Opera 9
Speed Dial™ – A very convenient way to access favorite websites. Just press on [Ctrl + T] to open a new tab and 9 Speed Dial are available for you to enter 9 websites that you frequently visit.
Fraud protection – It gives you the highest privacy protection against those websites that try to ‘hack’ your personal information.
How to protect:
- Note the “?” near the address bar
- Click on it and a dialog will pop up to enable Fraud Protection
- Trusted site will be verified
BitTorrent – Now you can even download your BT file by using Opera.
Add your favorite search engines – This is really simple. If you like Yahoo search engine, just right click on the yahoo search blank and choose ‘create search’.
Content blocker – The feature is available on any web page that you wish to block. Just right click Remove ads or images – it’s up to you. Right-click (CTRL-click on the Mac) on the Web page and choose “Block content”.
Site preferences – Likewise, this can view a site in a different way or deny certain cookies or want to block pop-ups on certain sites only. Right click and select “Edit site preferences”.
Widgets – The very nice feature that I would like to introduce about this. Small Web applications (multimedia, newsfeeds, games and more) that make your desktop experience more fun. 1266 widgets available at widgets.opera.com now. There are too many for me to explore, perhaps you can help me some and introduce what you have discovered out of.
Improved rich text editing – Use advanced text editing features for today’s most popular Web applications.
Thumbnail preview – It is easy to have many tabs open at once in Opera. But exactly which tab had that video you wanted? Hover your mouse on any tab to see a thumbnail preview.

Nice question and yes for sure I’ve tried that when I was at 14. And switching from there to Firefox and then to Opera while I’m using Safari at my current stage. I just found any 3 of them working fantastic more than IE. Too many reasons for that or perhaps you should try them out. Googling ‘reasons change to Firefox’ and you may find out more. Thanks for comment anyway.
